About
A Happy Man in a Necktie
Welcome
If you peek into my windows at night and see a light come on, that’s usually me grabbing a snack. Beyond that, I am not entirely sure what I am doing.
I plan to use this website to keep myself organized with an overall goal of developing positive habits — long overdue, by the way — through recording and sharing my impressions on culture and society, current events, and less structured parts of the world around us. It is a mess of things: Politics, art, walks around town, history, bars and restaurants, friends, film and books, thoughts, ideas, architecture…all the many things that interest me. Chaos, more or less.
I want to convince myself more than you that the work I would like to pursue and where I would like to accomplish it – not quite sure what – is hidden here in the ideas that I capture and share. But I literally don’t know when or where that will happen. In short, I am inviting you along for the ride, sharing a public journal that follows the journey. You’re sitting behind the mirror and I am seated a table with a bucket filled with colored blocks. What do you see? Can you share it with me?

Idea Tinkering
My Past Experience: I don’t fault anybody else.
Sale Executive, Hibu Digital Marketing
(2001 – Still There)
I work with business owners and do my best to save them from entrepreneurial perdition. I listen to what they want to accomplish in their business — the plans, sales objectives, endgame — and help them structure a marketing plan that helps them achieve these goals. If they are sincere and on board, I’ll help with creative work, too. Photographs, some basic ad design and copy. I have developed multi-year marketing plans and helped with strategy. Just ask and if we can do, we’ll do it.
Miscellaneous
(Pre-2000)
I have worked in sports marketing in Division I Men’s Intercollegiate Athletics, scholarship fundraising, too; copywriting and copy editing; had a stint as the associate director for an association of arts and sciences deans, and about 15 years of higher education in economics and humanities from which I have degrees in economics, humanities, history, and philosophy.
Hobbies and The Rest
(Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow)
Photography, writing, bars and restaurants, long drives, Arizona, gathering things, movies, long walks, reading, cocktail parties, the 1970s, history, naps and brunch.
Things I Think About
(Mostly when I am awake)
Waiting too long and the past; people, politics, and regrets; time and the future; what’s happening right now in random places; my friends and family; injustice and stupidity; all the things I did and cannot remember.
